Ron Nunes, contest organizer, has been working hard with Sweet Baby Ray's of Elk Grove to make sure this is going to be a first class contest. At last report, Ron has assembled nearly 40 teams for the contest, and is shooting for 100% CBJs too! I don't know where he is with the CBJ goal, but if you're a CBJ, and interested in helping with this contest, please contact Ron Nunes IMMEDIATELY. His contact information is available on the Events page of the http://www.ILBBQS.com website. If you're not competing, or judging this event, and find yourself with some time this weekend...why not cruise to Elk Grove to show your BBQ Support!?! Be sure to let the teams you meet, and Ron if you find him, that you heard about the event through the ILBBQS Newsletter! -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- -> Alsip Backyard Contest - June 16, 2007 I haven't heard anything new on this contest, so as far as I know it is scheduled as planned. This event is a fundraiser for Autisim...check it out if you're in the neighborhood! -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- -> Contest Wrap-Up (Mt. Vernon & LeRoy) The backyard event in LeRoy last weekend has not sent in a report yet, but since I competed in Mt. Vernon I can confidently report that Troy Heitmeyer, contest organizer, did another bang up job with this contest! 46 teams from serveral states competed in what is becoming known as one of the best contests in the Midwest. There were some grand surprises on the call list, and some big achievements made by new teams. Fun was had by all and the weather was absolutely perfect for this Soutnern Illinois classic. Check out the few pictures we have, as well as the overall top 10 and top 10 in each category, on the http://www.ILBBQS.com website. If you have additional pictures from Mt. Vernon, please send them to me for posting. Send them to bbq@ilbbqs.com . -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- -> Ever dream of owning your own chain of BBQ restaurants?
