Many of our members also like to take part in good ol' fashioned Chili Cook-Offs too. I just got word that there is a fun little chili contest coming up in Centralia, Illinois on October 27th. Several years old, this contest is open to anyone and everyone who thinks their chili can stand up to some of the best out there. The contest is limited to just 15 teams, but as of this writing there are several spots open. There will be payouts for the top 3 finishers as well as a People's Choice Winner. All places win trophies, and the money breakdown is as follows: 1st Place Overall = $100; 2nd Place Overall = $50; 3rd Place Overall = $25. The People's Choice is paying $50 for First Place and $25 for 2nd Place. Lion Bout The Q,(Peter Wright, Kerry Kvorka and Mike Spann, a Pittsfield Illinois Team) Took 1st in Brisket, 3rd in Brats, and 7th in Chicken at Hermann, Missouri on September 29th. It was only their 3rd sanctioned event ever! Insight: They must be doing something right...their children scored well in the kids Q also. Zoe was 3rd in chicken and Maggie was 6th!
